About Debbie

I’m the other half of WriteShop! You’ll find me nose-deep in Quickbooks, processing customer orders, managing our convention schedule, and overseeing many other details needed to keep WriteShop humming along.

My husband and I have been happily married for 31 years and are actively involved in our church. Beginning in 1986, we homeschooled our now-grown children for a total of 18 years. We’re the proud parents of an American soldier who, as a boy, struggled to learn how to write. WriteShop was born out of a desperate need to find a way to teach him.

I am not a natural writer myself, and writing doesn’t come easily for me, yet I have learned to become a more competent and confident writer as well as a teacher of writing. Sometimes I think God has quite a sense of humor! How ironic that He would take me, who would agonize for hours just to write a one-page essay in college, and use me to teach others to write.

God has ways of stretching us beyond our comfort zone so that we must depend on Him, and then He blesses our meager efforts beyond our wildest expectations. So don’t be afraid to step out and teach your children to write. We’re in this together. And if I can do it, you can too!
